Hollyland’s Pyro 5 wireless video system brings creative freedom and technical confidence to high-end productions, allowing directors and cinematographers to monitor every frame in real time without the limits of cables.
“The Pyro 5 eliminated HDMI cables and let me move the camera freely without worrying about tangling.”
Based in Brazil, Kauê Zilli is a freelance director of photography and camera operator who specializes in high-end drama series, commercials, and feature films across Latin America.
Working with small but highly adaptive crews, Kauê emphasizes cinematic framing, dynamic movement, and controlled lighting, crafting visuals that balance precision with artistic expression.
Recent projects have taken him to Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, collaborating with medium- to large-scale crews of 30–50 professionals across multiple camera units.

While shooting the feature film My Life with Shurastey, Kauê faced a familiar challenge on modern sets: maintaining freedom of movement while ensuring every department sees what the camera sees. Traditional HDMI cables restricted motion and cluttered the set, slowing transitions between shots.
Filming took place across both studio interiors with complex lighting setups and urban or remote exterior locations, often through long shooting days and night sequences. With multiple camera units working simultaneously, signal reliability and low latency were critical.
To solve these issues, Kauê deployed the Hollyland Pyro 5 system. The transmitter was mounted on the main camera, while the director and key crew monitored the feed on an iPad via the mobile app, and the gaffer used the secondary monitor to adjust lighting.

The Pyro 5 quickly became an essential part of the workflow. In the morning, Kauê and his team built the camera rig, mounting the transmitter on the main camera and linking it to both monitors and the mobile app. The setup was straightforward, and once the connections were established, the crew could immediately check framing and exposure on multiple screens before the first take.

As the day progressed, the team captured a series of interior scenes inside the studio. The Pyro 5 ran continuously for more than six hours, maintaining a strong, clean signal without any dropouts. Even after extended operation, the transmitter stayed cool to the touch, proving its stability during long shooting sessions. The director relied on the iPad feed to review performances between takes, while the gaffer monitored the same image to fine-tune lighting levels in real time. The system’s consistent transmission allowed every department to stay aligned without the clutter and limitations of cabled monitors.

When the production moved outdoors for the evening’s exterior shots on this feature film, the Pyro 5 continued to perform flawlessly. Despite the wider setup and greater distances between camera and monitors, the signal remained reliable and responsive. Quick battery swaps kept the system running smoothly, and the crew completed the night sequence with uninterrupted monitoring from start to finish.
“Booting up takes around 30 seconds, but once running, the Pyro 5 delivers a stable, high-quality image across the entire set.”

For Kauê Zilli, working on the feature film My Life with Shurastey, the Pyro 5 redefined wireless monitoring on professional film sets. It provided stable, low-latency transmission and flexible viewing for multiple departments, transforming collaboration efficiency across camera and lighting teams.
From high-end series to independent features, the Pyro 5 gives cinematographers the freedom to frame, move, and create without compromise, making it an essential part of modern on-set workflows.
“Reliable, stable, and beautifully designed, the Pyro 5 gives me the confidence to focus entirely on the image.”
