From solo filmmakers to full production crews, creators rely on intuitive, dependable gear to bring their stories to life. At Hollyland, we design our products with creators in mind — and we believe great audio should be backed by great engineering. To validate the performance of the LARK MAX 2 wireless microphone system, we commissioned a series of objective tests from the Suzhou Institute of Acoustic Technology (SIAT), a leading third-party research and testing institute specializing in electroacoustics.
The tests were conducted by SIAT’s fully owned subsidiary, Suzhou Acoustic Testing Co., Ltd., in a facility equipped with world-class labs — including an anechoic chamber rated at -8 dB (one of the quietest in Asia), a semi-anechoic chamber, and 10+ specialized test rooms. The lab is equipped with over 200 professional instruments and is accredited under CNAS and CMA for standardized testing.
Over a span of three days, the lab completed in-depth evaluation across six core metrics. The results confirm the LARK MAX 2’s outstanding performance in voice clarity, distortion control, signal precision, and environmental adaptability.
Broadcast-Quality Sound, Wirelessly Delivered
The LARK MAX 2 is built to help creators capture clear, natural sound with minimal effort. Its smooth and flat frequency response ensures accurate audio reproduction, while advanced AI noise cancellation reduces background distractions in challenging environments.
The system supports up to four transmitters connected to one receiver, making it a practical choice for multi-person shoots. From capture to low-latency monitoring, the full signal chain is designed for reliability and ease of use — whether you’re recording interviews, documentaries, or fast-paced video content.
Here are some highlights from the acoustic certification report:
POLQA Sound Quality Score (MOS-LQO): 4.37 / 5
Using a standard 94 dB SPL voice test signal at 48 kHz sampling, the LARK MAX 2 scored 4.37 in super-wideband (SWB) mode — an excellent performance that ensures speech remains intelligible and natural across use cases.
Frequency Response & Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
Tested at 75 dB SPL using a full-range sweep, the LARK MAX 2 demonstrated an impressively flat response curve with subtle high-end lift. This helps enhance clarity and detail while controlling harsh sibilance. THD remained low even across frequency ranges most sensitive to the human ear — a crucial factor for post-production flexibility.
Maximum Undistorted Sound Pressure Level: 128 dB SPL
Ideal for high-volume environments, the LARK MAX 2 can handle up to 128 dB SPL without distortion or clipping — ensuring that even loud sources are captured cleanly and accurately.
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)
Testing under standard conditions confirmed a high SNR, allowing subtle sound details to shine through while keeping background noise to a minimum.
This milestone not only highlights the LARK MAX 2’s robust acoustic engineering — it also showcases Hollyland’s commitment to transparency, quality, and innovation.
At Hollyland, we’re committed to offering creators tools they can trust, backed by real-world testing and expert validation. Whether you’re filming on location, producing interviews, or live streaming content, the LARK MAX 2 is ready to deliver.
