The following article is a genuine firsthand account from Garrett King.
I don’t usually get excited about communication gear — but the Hollyland Solidcom C1 Pro 6S has completely changed the way I run productions. After years of dealing with dodgy walkies, unclear audio, and unreliable connections, this wireless intercom system felt like stepping into the future. I’m probably late to the game, but nonetheless we made it.
To put it simply: I don’t know what I was doing before these coms.
From the moment I powered them on, it was clear Hollyland wasn’t messing around. The setup was ridiculously simple — practically plug-and-play — and within seconds of the main com turning on, my entire team was linked up with crystal-clear audio and zero dropouts. Whether we were working across a small studio or a larger event space, the connection stayed solid. Not a single hiccup. Our producer could go snag coffee or run and errand from around the corner, and never drop out of signal. Kind of crazy. That freedom to move around without worrying about communication lapses made a massive difference in how we coordinated and executed shots.
What stood out most was the clarity and reliability. The audio is incredibly clean, even in noisier environments. There was no lag, no fuzziness — just seamless communication. And the hands-free, full-duplex operation means we can all talk and listen naturally, like a real conversation, without needing to press a button every time. This eliminates the hassle of the walkie-talkie method in my opinion. What really blew us away was the microphone quality and noise cancellation. We were working in some seriously loud environments — think fans, generators, crowds, and general chaos — and yet we could only hear each other. The system filtered out the background noise so well, it felt like we were in our own quiet bubble. Game-changer for sure.
On the flip side, when we were in quieter locations, we could whisper and still be heard clearly. That level of dynamic clarity is rare. Whether we were in a control room or out on a noisy set, the audio was consistently reliable.
Another major plus? Comfort. These headsets are lightweight, fit well, and don’t become a distraction during long production days. I appreciate the additional ear pieces the kit comes with to customize your experience and fit. That may sound minor, but when you’re wearing them for 8+ hours, it makes a big difference.
Honestly, I’ll never go back to another system. The Solidcom C1 Pro 6S has become a permanent part of my workflow, and it’s hard to imagine a shoot or event without it. It’s reliable, pro-grade, and absolutely worth the investment. My wife and I wear them around the house sometimes just because we are in different rooms which is hilarious, but also so useful.
All-in-all the Solidcom C1 Pro 6S is hands-down the best comms system I’ve ever used. It’s professional, reliable, and intuitive. I didn’t expect it to make such a huge impact — but now I can’t imagine working without it. I’ve completely nerded out on these since I got them.
12/10 recommend. If you’re serious about your productions, you need this system.
