User Profile

How Ridiculous creates large scale stunts and epic moments for their fans. They drop objects from extreme heights and pull off all kinds of outrageous experiments. Their YouTube channel, How Ridiculous, is known for these massive, physics-defying challenges. For the episode “Can 1000 Exercise Balls Bounce a Falling Car?”, the team filmed in the Perth Hills of Western Australia. The shoot ran from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in a wide-open rural field that stretched roughly 300 × 300 meters, giving them plenty of room to pull off their biggest ideas.

Usage Scenario

Filming stunts at this scale comes with several challenges. Sometimes camera operators have to mount high-speed cameras in hard to reach places to capture the best angles for stunts. Immediately after the stunt, often the How Ridiculous hosts react to the footage from these stunts, and these reactions ultimately become an important part of the final video. Camera operators were previously limited to previewing only one camera via a wired connection, which made on-site reviews less efficient. In this particular shoot, the high-speed cameras had to be mounted two meters above the ground to follow action taking place above a giant ball pit.

The Cosmo C2 removed that limitation by allowing cameras to be placed anywhere without running cables. Its dual-input wireless transmission enabled live feeds from both high-speed cameras—the Phantom and the Ember—to be sent to one centralized monitor. This wireless setup allows key staff to view both camera feeds together in real time from a safe and comfortable location. With the Cosmo C2, the team captured the best angles and still previewed the footage with ease.

Coordination across this field was equally crucial. Stunts often take place in large outdoor environments where seamless, reliable, real-time communication is critical for setting up shots and synchronizing timing across multiple camera angles. For this shoot, the team needed tight coordination as multiple objects—cars, boats, a piano, and more—were dropped by a crane into the giant ball pit. The Solidcom C1 Pro headsets allowed the camera operators, the Head of Production, and the Creative Director to coordinate effortlessly and ensure every moment is captured with precision and consistency, so that no stunt was mistimed and no camera angle was missed.
