By Hollyland | March 20, 2023

October 11, 2022, from 1 to 6 p.m. EDT—A first-of-its-kind livestreaming event from the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland, the U.S. Fire

Administrator’s Summit on Fire Prevention and Control: State of Science features presentations from the country’s most prominent fire service leaders and researchers. The livestream event was intended for reporters, the public, the fire service, and local, state, and national policymakers looking for a better understanding of the challenges and recommended solutions to the critical fire problem in America. The Summit kicked off the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week. The Summit included a virtual participation and address from President Joe Biden.

Hollyland is delighted that our professional wireless intercom system Solidcom M1 was the chosen solution for an uncompromisingly reliable real-time communication device for the behind-the-scenes production team.

As an outstanding company specializing in livestreaming, webcasting, producing corporate videos, and more, Focus Point Productions was entrusted as the production team for this event. Any livestreaming can be challenging, not to mention the presence of President Joe Biden, and therefore, choosing reliable tools is particularly crucial.  Based on their trust in Hollyland’s wireless intercom systems, Focus Point Productions did not hesitate to choose the Solidcom M1 as their first-choice real-time communication tool for the Summit.

Efficient team coordination is the key to providing incredible onsite livestreaming for a public event. Now, let us take a closer look at why the Solidcom M1 wireless intercom system worked in promoting onsite team communication during the Summit.

1. Smooth communication within the site

The first challenge was the sheer area to be covered, which defined the necessity for having a wireless intercom system capable of smooth real-time communication for a venue of this size. In addition, the staff members required a level of wireless mobility and uninterrupted communication. The Solidcom M1 was a go-to choice for the production team given the area coverage and mobility requirements. Each Solidcom M1 base station offers two antenna options to address varying operation scenarios. The built-in panel antennas offer a one-way transmission range of up to 1300ft (400m), and the FRP antennas are designed for reliable transmission in a 360° radius range of around 985ft (300m), making the Solidcom M1 a perfect choice for smooth communication for this formal summit. Additionally, each set of Solidcom M1 comes with eight beltpacks and supports up to three communication groups with standard networking capable of 328ft (100m) for cascading, allowing the production staff plenty of flexibility.

2. Accurate audio delivery in a noisy environment

A noisy environment was another challenge to be addressed during the Summit where there were continuous presentations, discussions, and applause, from the attendees and other background noise from the working staff, sound systems, and other electronic devices. Hollyland’s Solidcom M1 provided the production team with clear communication and instant response among the staff members. The Solidcom M1 adopts noise-cancellation algorithms developed by Hollyland and operates in a wide vocal frequency range from 200Hz to 7kHz, effectively blocking out undesired ambient noise and delivering accurate sound at a broadcast-level sampling rate of 16kHz. Communication clarity among the onsite staff greatly reduced many of their worries during the production.

3. Enhanced anti-interference capability with multiple electronic devices

The Summit’s signal environment was also a great concern. As we all know, for any formal event, the livestreaming must work the first time—there are no re-shoots, everything must go smoothly, and there can be no mistakes, and this is why Focus Point Productions chose our Solidcom M1 wireless intercom system. The Solidcom M1 system operates at the 1.9GHz frequency band and has little interference with other wireless devices on the scene. Designed with auto frequency hopping technology, the Solidcom M1 boasts an enhanced anti-interface capability for selecting a clear frequency.
